This summer I attended a wonderful workshop with Richard Byrne called "Using Video To Demonstrate Student Learning." It was very cool to learn about the many different video tools available to our students, but I was most excited about Animoto. Animoto is a quick and easy way to make a video with images, text and music. One of the best things about it is that once you've made your video, it is so easy to share online!
Kari and I got to talking about our first day back as a staff and we both agreed that it would be really fun to try Animoto for our "what did you do this summer?" conversation. Summer is such a visual feast (sunshine, beaches, gardens, etc.) that Animoto is the perfect vehicle for showing off all the great things we did!
So, here are some directions (which hopefully you had a chance to read ahead of time). Have fun with it!
I'm embedding my "summer story" here so you can see what that feature looks like; once your video is done, send me your embed code and I will post yours as well. Or, even better, you can post your video on your classroom web page to show your students how you spent your summer!
