Many of you have expressed an interest in embedding slideshows into your classroom blog. This is a great way to showcase student work and to share what you've been up in your classroom.
Here are some quick directions for embedding a slideshow from Picasa into your blog:
- Go to Picasa Web Albums (log in using your RSU1 Gmail account).
- Click on Upload to add new photos; once they are uploaded, give your new album a name.
- Choose the album that you would like to embed by clicking on the title of the album from your Picasa home page.
- On the right-hand side, click on the "edit" button next to where it says "Only you" and change it to "public on the web."
- Once you've made your album public, click on "Link to this Album" and then "Embed Slideshow."
- Choose the album size that you'd like and also whether you'd like it to autoplay and then copy the HTML code that appears in the box.
- Open a new tab in Firefox (go to File -> new tab) and go to Blogger.
- Click on New Post (or page, depending on where you want your slideshow to be) and then click on the "HTML" tab. Paste your slideshow embed code.
- Publish!
- This is so helpful (and addicting maybe?) I am having one minor problem with click and dragging photos into Picasa Web Albums - sometimes I can do it and sometimes not. (It seems like if I just started my computer it works - this is my PC at home that I'm referring to - but if I went to try it again the click and drag feature is blocked. I am able to open a bunch of pics at once with ctrl and select and then open - but not as fun as click and drag ... whine, whine)
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, our pre-k blog is humming with slideshows. Many thanks -
Your Pre-K blog looks fabulous Anne! I'm not sure why the "click and drag" feature doesn't work sometimes. I wonder if it would make a difference if you tried a different browser? (e.g if you're using Internet Explorer, try Firefox, or vice versa). I will play with it on one of our netbooks at PES and see if I can discover the magic switch for dragging and dropping. Blog on!
