We’ve been exploring many different Web 2.0 tools over these past few months - wikis, blogs, Google apps, etc. Those are the “biggies,” but there are dozens of other Web 2.0 tools available for free online that will motivate and engage your students.
For a little inspiration, we’re going to start our session by watching a video created by a group of young people called “A Vision for K-12 Students Today.” After we’ve watched the video, please respond on the Tech Tapas Wallwisher wall.
Wallwisher is a pretty nifty tool that can by used in a myriad of ways in the classroom. For some ideas, check out 19 Ways to Use Wallwisher in the Classroom.
Another great Web 2.0 tool for the classroom is social bookmarking. Diigo and del.icio.us are social bookmarking sites that enable you to bookmark, tag and share websites with your students.
Time permitting, we’ll also take a peek at Bubbl.us, a mind-mapping/brainstorming tool.
Finally, visual literacy is increasingly important for our students. There are many video sharing sites out there, including, of course, the most well known, YouTube. For your classroom, you might find that TeacherTube offers more than just video.
Regardless of which Web 2.0 tool you choose to try, know that your students will love it and you will all gain something from the experience!
